The Travel Photographer – Bhutan: Land of Druk Yul Expedition

This was one of the festivals or tsechus on my Land of Druk Yul photo expedition’s itinerary. It is of a young monk practicing with a conch shell before one of the festival’s dances. The conch is used in Tibetan Buddhism to call together religious assemblies, and during rituals is used both as a musical instrument and as a container for holy water.
